Habitude Guitars ( which means the essence of ones soul) was formed in 2020. It's main purpose as a nonprofit 501c3 was and still is to build custom solid body electric guitars for donation to help veterans find healing. While this got off to a great start, there seemed to be a connection missing in the process. At the same time I started to feel the grips of the PTSD Monster grabbing hold of me once again. I had battled him before by attending a 6 week in residence program in AZ. in 2015. That seemed to be wearing off and I was going down hill fast. Somehow, I'm still not sure I was offered it, but I attended a 2 week out patient program at Emory University in Atlanta, GA. through the Wounded Warrior Project. This got my head moving back in the right direction. I then attended a Wounded Warrior Project organization, that took us fishing and rafting in Colorado. I can't say this was healing, but it did form some close friends, one of which, Gabe, you will get to know well. My next Wounded Warrior Project trip was with Permission to start Dreaming, affiliated with The Boulder Crest Foundation, This program compared to the other WWP events was by far hands down the best.
Through these events and programs I have attended, we keep a text thread to encourage each other to struggle well. Those are and continue to be a huge part of my practice of finding peace. On one of those threads I learned about Ketamine infusions. I gave em a try and was delightfully surprised at how well they work. This lead me down a path to researching psychedelics in therapy. Before I knew it, I was in Rosarito Mexico with some other Special operators with an organization called the Mission Within. I was there to partake in an Ibogaine ceremony, ( a root from West Africa) and 5 meo DMT. (A venom from the Sonoran Bufo Toad.) This was life changing and completely beyond words, or what we can comprehend here on earth. I am no longer on any medications to include blood pressure meds and have lost a lot of weight being kept on by previously being on antidepressants, and other VA favorites.
So while Habitude is retooling and currently out of stock of guitars we will still continue our fund raising through art work for sale, an informative video podcast, and a nutrition specialist getting the word out there about keeping our bodies ready for positive change.
